What We Do

Basketball Kungfu is all about providing the knowledge & resources necessary to improve your basketball IQ & performance. This process involves synchronizing your mental and physical abilities through the use of methods similar to those used in martial arts. More specifically we use body mechanics & situational awareness to maximize decision making & muscle memory.

How We Do It

Mind

The human mind is the most complex system known to mankind. Our minds have the flexibility to solve tasks that range from thousands of variables to a single variable while simultaneously evaluating efficiency and overall success rates. This can all be done at speeds that make time irrelevant and that allow for exceptionally fast reaction times. However, although the human mind is magnificent, it has the ability to both overprocess & underprocess information which undermines performance. To complicate matters further, each one of us has their own style.

Basketball Kungfu is designed to take advantage of individual learning styles and information processing to optimize learning and maximize court performance.

Body

The human body is amazingly adaptable and can perform at levels that continue to exceed expectations across the sports world. As we push the limits of what the human body can do, we are simultaneously improving technology and ways to leverage that technology to improve performance. However, each individual has their own strengths and points of optimal performance. What does this mean for basketball? Well, some forms of training are more beneficial than others and this can change, depending on the individual. Performance training should not be a one-size-fits-all model.

Basketball Kungfu training prioritizes the ability to observe, recognize and adapt human motion mechanics in a manner that is safe, efficient & promotes athletic longevity. Each player should be trained in understanding their own body and make decisions on when to push limits. This involves making smart choices regarding the types of workouts you engage in, and being able to evaluate the efficiency of the drills you use.

Spirit

Basketball Kungfu takes the human spirit into account. Every time you meet an extraordinary person it is their spirit that makes them stand out. It is not what they know or what they can accomplish that makes them unique, rather it is their ability to manage their character and emotions regardless of the outcome. Basketball skills should be taught in a manner that helps build character and develop emotional maturity through an understanding and application of life changing lessons. A person with a strong spirit is better able to adapt to life’s challenges and overcome adversity, and even raise up those around them.
